Key Stage 3 (Year 7 – 9)

At Rugby School Nigeria, we believe education should spark curiosity, build confidence, and prepare pupils for life – not just exams. Our approach is grounded in the values of the Rugby Learner Profile, helping pupils grow not just academically, but as well-rounded individuals.

In Years 7–9, pupils between the ages of 11 and 14 experience a broad and balanced curriculum designed to help them thrive in a fast-changing world; they study core subjects such as Mathematics, English and the Sciences, along with humanities such as History and Geography.

Alongside this, they explore subjects that support personal growth – from financial literacy and physical education to library skills and PSHE (physical, social, health and economic education). These lessons help them build the life skills they’ll use every day, both now and in the future.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all learning. Our teachers use innovative methods to challenge and support pupils at every step.

The goal? To help them discover their strengths, ask questions, and take their place in the world with purpose.

Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examination

Towards the end of Year 9, students take the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examination, providing an opportunity to assess the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout Key Stage 3.

The results offer valuable insight into each student’s strengths and areas for further development, helping teachers and parents identify where additional support may be beneficial. They also provide useful guidance as students prepare to make informed subject choices for Key Stage 4 and their IGCSE studies in Years 10 and 11.

The goal? To help them discover their strengths, ask questions, and take their place in the world with purpose.
