Boarding is an important part of life at Rugby School Nigeria, offering students a warm, structured and vibrant environment where they can learn, grow and thrive.
For many of our students, boarding becomes a second home — a place where friendships flourish, independence develops and students are supported by a caring community beyond the classroom.
Our purpose-built boarding facility occupies the top two floors of our campus, with capacity for approximately 300–350 students. Designed specifically with student comfort, wellbeing and community in mind, the facilities provide a safe and welcoming environment in which students can feel at home while making the most of everything Rugby School Nigeria has to offer.
Life in boarding extends well beyond the school day. Shared meals, evening activities, supervised study, sport, relaxation and time with friends all form part of the experience. Through these everyday moments, students develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.
With dedicated boarding staff and pastoral support, students know that there are trusted adults around them who are committed to their wellbeing, personal development and success.
At Rugby School Nigeria, boarding is more than accommodation. It is a community where students are encouraged to belong, grow and thrive.

Flexible Boarding to Suit Every Family
We understand that every family has different needs. Our boarding provision is designed to offer families flexibility while giving students the opportunity to experience the many benefits of residential school life.
Whether boarding is a full-time arrangement or forms part of a student’s wider school experience, our aim is to ensure that every student feels comfortable, supported and fully involved in the life of the School.
Boarding provides students with a focused and enriching environment in which they can make the most of their academic, sporting, creative and co-curricular opportunities, while developing the independence and confidence that come from living as part of a community.
Purpose-Built Boarding Facilities
Our boarding facilities have been purpose-built to provide students with a comfortable, secure and welcoming home on campus.
Located across the top two floors of our campus, the accommodation has a capacity of approximately 300–350 students and includes dedicated boarding areas for boys and girls.
The facilities include:
- Comfortable two-bed and four-bed bedrooms
- Dedicated bathroom facilities
- Welcoming common areas for relaxation and socialising
- Spaces that support study and independent learning
- Dedicated pastoral and residential support
The boarding environment has been designed to balance the benefits of community living with the need for students to have comfortable spaces in which they can rest, study and recharge.

Girls’ Boarding House
The girls’ boarding house provides a warm, secure and supportive environment where students can develop their independence while enjoying the friendship and community that boarding brings.
Our two-bed and four-bed bedrooms provide comfortable shared accommodation, while communal spaces give students opportunities to relax, talk and spend time together.
We want every student to feel that the boarding house is somewhere they belong — a place where they are known, valued and supported as they grow in confidence and maturity.
Boys’ Boarding House
The boys’ boarding house provides a welcoming environment where students can relax, study, spend time with friends and become part of a close-knit community.
With a combination of two-bed and four-bed rooms, students have the opportunity to share their boarding experience with their peers while developing the consideration, cooperation and independence that are such an important part of residential life.
The house provides comfortable living spaces alongside communal areas where students can socialise, unwind and take part in activities outside the school day.
Dedicated boarding staff are available to provide guidance, pastoral care and support, helping students settle into boarding and make the most of their experience.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Our boarding bedrooms are designed to provide students with comfortable spaces to rest, recharge and connect with their peers.
Accommodation is available in two-bed and four-bed configurations, allowing students to experience the friendships and camaraderie that are central to boarding life.
Sharing a room also helps students develop important life skills. They learn to respect personal space, communicate effectively, compromise and consider the needs of others.
Modern bathroom facilities are provided within the boarding accommodation, ensuring students have convenient access to the facilities they need as part of their daily routines.
Common Areas
Some of the most memorable moments of boarding life happen outside the classroom.
Our common areas provide students with welcoming spaces to relax, talk, play, read and spend time together after a busy school day.
Whether catching up with friends, taking part in an informal activity or simply enjoying some downtime, these shared spaces help create the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that makes a boarding house feel like home.
Boarding is about more than where students sleep. It is about the community they become part of.
The People Behind the Care
The wellbeing of our boarders is at the heart of the Rugby School Nigeria boarding experience.
Our dedicated boarding team provides students with guidance, pastoral care and support throughout their time in boarding.
The team includes:
2 House Masters
Our House Masters provide leadership and oversight within the boarding community, supporting students’ wellbeing, personal development and day-to-day experience.
3 House Mistresses / Matrons
Our House Mistresses/Matrons support students with their daily routines, wellbeing and life within the boarding houses, providing a reassuring presence and someone to turn to when support is needed.
1 School Nurse
Our School Nurse provides professional health support and contributes to the health and wellbeing of our boarding community.
Together, the boarding team creates a supportive network around every student.
For parents, this means knowing that their child is not simply living on campus, but is part of a community where their wellbeing, happiness and development are taken seriously.
The Benefits of Boarding
The benefits of boarding extend far beyond the academic.
Living alongside their peers gives students the opportunity to develop the skills and qualities that will serve them throughout their lives.
| Benefit | What students develop |
| Independence | Confidence in managing their own routines, belongings and responsibilities |
| Resilience | The ability to adapt, overcome challenges and persevere |

Boarding encourages students to become increasingly confident and self-reliant while knowing that they have a supportive community around them.
A Life Beyond the Classroom
One of the greatest advantages of boarding is the opportunity to make the most of school life.
Once the academic day is over, students can continue to participate in the many opportunities available at Rugby School Nigeria. Sport, arts, clubs, activities, study and time with friends all form part of the wider boarding experience.
Students can return to their boarding houses, spend time with friends, complete their academic work and take part in activities before winding down for the evening.
This creates a healthy balance between learning, activity, friendship and rest.
Boarding allows students to experience school as a complete community rather than simply a place they attend each day.
Growing Together
Boarding provides an environment in which students learn not only from their teachers, but also from one another.
Living alongside students from different backgrounds and with different interests encourages young people to become more open-minded, considerate and adaptable.
They learn to celebrate one another’s achievements, support each other through challenges and contribute to a community that is bigger than themselves.
These experiences help students develop the character and confidence to navigate an increasingly connected world.
More Than a Place to Stay
At Rugby School Nigeria, we believe that a successful boarding experience should do more than provide students with somewhere comfortable to live.
It should help them become more confident, independent, resilient and responsible.
It should give them friendships that can last a lifetime.
It should provide opportunities to discover new interests and challenge themselves.
And above all, it should give them a genuine sense of belonging.
Our boarders are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity — academically, socially, creatively and physically — while knowing that they have a supportive community behind them.
Because boarding is not simply about where a student lives.
It is about the person they become while they are there.
Your Child’s Home Away from Home
At Rugby School Nigeria, we are creating a boarding experience where students can feel at home, pursue their ambitions and grow into confident young people ready for the world beyond school.
We look forward to welcoming your family to our boarding community.
